School Improvement – How shall we do it?

Raising standards, what should I consider? Focus on what phonics scheme to use? What reading or mathematics scheme is best? Now writing; what company shall we use? Which publisher is best? But surely any company’s main motive is profit; so can I trust them? Could make lots of worksheets. Buy lots of textbooks. Now what are those Local Authority advisors recommending? Are there any left? Got any intervention strategies and booster group ideas?

What about Nick Gibb and the government? Could we go back to the national strategies, literacy/numeracy hours and QCA guidance?! Hang on; Russell Hobby said that Government initiatives last about 6 months – when we take an average over the last 20 years or so. Maybe best to ignore them.

Actually I think I’ll ignore all of the above!
